Seventeen Forever?

Initial Plans. I turned 17 last Dec. 8th, 2010. =) Supposedly, I was to have a celebration at home and I'll just invite my friends to come over. But then a few complications arose and so I had to give up my initial bday bash plans. I admit that I was pretty disappointed at first, because I just wanted my super close friends to come over, hang out, talk, catch up on each other [since we go to different schools now], and above all, I wanted them to meet my Mom. She works abroad, you know. The last birthday I spent with her was my 13th, so yeah I was glad that she made it this time around.

From a disappointment comes the birth of a new hope. As my hopes for a mini-house party for my 17th birthday celebration vanished, I was eager to just get some splash of cash for a present, since a celebration at home was a hopeless dream. For me, it was house celeb or nothing. To my disappointment, I had to settle for nothing. In place of that nothing, the thought of cash gifts made me excited and joyous again. Haha.

The Trick. So here's the thing. If I were to have a celebration, I had to do it before the 10th of December 'cause my Mom was booked to fly back to U.S. on the 10th. So there, I was com-puh-letely convinced that I won't celebrate it anymore. But she insisted on at least having some of my friends be treated to a dinner out. Pat was the only friend I got who agreed on having dinner out in Robinsons' Galleria. The rest of my friends were either not replying or had informed me of their inability to come. Well, what do you expect in bugging people on a Wednesday night? I know it's the middle of a busy week and so I understand all those who couldn't make it. Oh, I remember something! Giell committed herself to coming as well, but later that night, she came up with this excuse that their tires got flat in Katipunan. I was practically in ruins! Not that I don't value Pat's soon presence 'coz really, I appreciate her efforts. She even came from a very distant place [Taft, where she studies] and still made time to stop over in Ortigas just to celebrate my birthday with me! I was kind of worried as to whether or not it was going to be a blast if it were only I and Pat who had dinner. Not that it would be awkward, but that, would it be fun as I'd hope it to be? Considering that our time was limited too, would her efforts be worth it? Deep down, I could only sigh and tell myself 'Whatta birthday'.

The Real Deal. Pat finally arrived and asked me to go to the Krispy Kreme. I wasn't gonna buy doughnuts, so I didn't wanna sit. I stood there, assuming that she'll be there in a matter of five minutes. I wondered what was taking her so long, eh she only has her very self to bring to the meeting place! Little did I know, she was preparing a mini-surprise for me by bringing along our friends Giell (yes, the great deceiver that's right), Kat (another deceiver 'coz she told me she was in a massive Rosary vigil thing at school, Aice (you guessed it right, deceiver #3 she is who lied about her parents not allowing her to go), Albert and Cezar. And how can I forget the mastermind, Pat??? You deceptive brats! LolJK.

So Happy. Despite my friends' betrayal of my precious trust, I figured they're the closest ones I got, so right then and there, I forgave them. Hahaha. Albert didn't stay for long, but he sure did make it to my list of cool people for doing cool things like greeting me personally. Lolz. Albert, if you're reading this, thank you! :)

The level of my appreciation and gratitude to these six friends of mine are beyond words can tell
There they are! The guy with a bag is my boyfriend, then the one... LOLJK, he's a stranger. That buff, matipunong guy at the leftmost part is Cezar; next to him is a girl with the pilot get-up Aice (she studies in a pilot school), Giell, imbento girl haha jk she's a Fine Arts student, very nice and pretty too; Pat, the pasimuno of it all, an HRIM student; then there's Kat, who pretended to pray when really she was dying to see me hehehe joke lang, Bus. Ad. student and yours truly. ;-) Nice, did I just reveal your college courses girls? :))
See that cake? Pat, in her greatest intentions to surprise me, got her hair partially burned while she held this box on her way to me. They also gave me two birthday cards (too bad I didn't take a pic of it). Their handwriting was terrific! :)) It seemed that they were riding EK's Space Shuttle while trying to write their sweet messages to me. That's not all! Written on the card that Giell gave me was 'To My Ninang'... Wow! Halatang halatang pinaghandaan! For what it's worth, I LOVED it and as simple as my 17th celeb came out to be, I'll always remember this day, and the friends who made it a wonder to me.

I also got to introduce the six of them to my Mom.. Though, not in a way that I'd plan. She just pointed them out and tried to tell their names and boom she got them all right. If I didn't know better, I'd say she's a stalker who checks on all my Facebook connections. But she's definitely not. She just wants to keep in touch with us as much as she can, and Facebook is one of the many ways to do that. It's not easy to grow up while your mommy is away. But she managed to be amazingly capable of being so close to my heart all these years. I love you, Mom! I miss you as well. In the first place, I wouldn't be a blooming, gorgeous, kind, amazing (JUST KIDDING) 17 year old right now if it weren't for you, Mom. Is it Mother's Day yet? Why am I uttering such cheesy lines right now? Hihi, that's alright. Anything for my mother. ;) Behind this face, is a wonderful mother of three.:
The name is Annie!

Again and again, salamat.
