I'm not really much of a fan of Taylor Swift's.... Okay maybe I am :)) Just not the obssessed type. Maybe it was brought about by not only her LSS-causing and nice songs, but also her charming personality and her overall image as a young country singer. Oh, and her music videos too and the hotties that came along every video. Haha c'mon you know what I'm talking about
I think it was mid-January when a close friend of mine, Pat, asked me via text message if I was willing to go to TSwift's fast approaching concert in Manila. Her bestfriend (also very dear to me) Giell, was supposed to be the one coming with her on that special moment. As it turns out, Giell has an out of town thing going on at that same day Feb 19! Pat panicked about this 'cause not only is her bestfriend bailing (for a very valid and good reason naman) but also the reserved concert tickets were unpaid yet.
I was in the bus on my way home when I read her text which I gave so much thought about since I've been wanting to see TSwift perform live too! How thrilled I was when my dad allowed me without further ado! haha yehey
So there now, I just saved my friend from the abyss of a concert ticket worth of utang =)) AND, I was all set to sing along to Taylor Swift's originals --- LIVE!
Weeks passed and Taylor Swift's (how redundant her name is in this blog nye) Manila experience is getting closer and closer.
May I just add that the weeks and days prior to the concert were all filled with the ultimate college stress...by far. And I was only a freshman. I can never forget. Hehe but those are merely memories now sooo it's time to move on
THE DAY! :D
My dad along with my bro Julian drove me and Pat to Araneta 6:30-ish. Traffic jam was no surprise, and pea and I walked our way to the big dome! We felt the CHILL of the moment, knowing that Swift is barely 2 hours away from meeting us. That kilig feeling, especially when you see lots of people who are there for the same reason as you do. Weeee!
But but but the tickets weren't with us just yet. It was with Pat's college friend and so we had to come to the latter's location (which is just somewhere in Araneta, don't worry). Hassle came when we couldn't find the place at first and needless to say, the crowded area that we were in. Well Taylor Swift was there, what do you expect.
At long last, we found the place and snap, the tickets are on our hands now, literally! :D here comes the sun doo doo doo doo!
Okay so the excitement kinda faltered when we entered a jam-packed place. At first, I was kinda glad that the place we were entering at that moment seemed to be quiet which only meant one thing: it's not vacated yet! Sooner we realized that the reason why that area did not contain people was because it was a view for flops! If you wanna see Taylor Swift perform live with her back turned on you, then please, you have all the place to yourself! Haha so obviously Pat and I have got to find some place else --- one with a decent view.
Another level of excitement faltered when we were left with no choice but to stand for the entire concert duration. Naman eh!!! But hey we're Filipinos...known for our resiliency hahaha it's time to rise up to the occasion! No choice na eh. That was not the only problem haha. Major major siksikan ang pangyayari, pasalamat na lang ako at hindi ROCK concert 'yun dahil kung ganoon nga, si Pat na lang ang nakapagblog tungkol sa concert kase I'm either dead or in a coma. Exaggerated I know, but that's how I can picture everything.
Sam Concepcion was the Front Act. I like his singing and his dancing and all that stuff he's got going on but hey we're so excited to see Swift! Hehe but the crowd was pleased with him, I could tell. He performed for a few more minutes and then got himself off the stage along with his back-up dancers and whewwww the kilig feeling was running through our spines more alive than everrrr!
He got off at 8 and everyone was so like 'Tay-lor, Tay-lor, Tay-lor!' Of course Pat and I were among the thousands of people screaming for her. :P We were hungry too but, protecting our place mattered more than our tummies at that moment sooo yun.
HAHA the excitement faltered completely when almost an hour had passed and yet Taylor was nowhere to be seen..or heard. But then here came 9:00. Hehe they should have produced some sort of program para so we'll know what to expect (joke napakacorny nun)
Taylor's voice came in and we heard her say stuff like 'There is a time for silence, for waiting your turn *etc etc etc I can't remember but I know they were beautiful words* and to speak now. Along with these words were also words flashing on the big screen. The excitement, being almost gone in our hearts 'cause of waiting :/ was, in an instant, replaced by a moment of infinite screams of fans (including me and Pat)! And we've only just begun.
I wish I could save you from the bore of reading more and more words by just posting videos of her performance, but no honey, sorry I can't. We consistently and diligently took videos but Pat soon found out that the videos our hands worked so very hard for, was such a FAIL ---- you can't even hear her sing.
So let's just read read read! She sang Sparks Fly first. Then as she danced and sang to her music, Pat and I slowly came to realize how seriously pretty she was. She was so tall and skinny like a doll and everything about her was just, magical. Haha talk about having a fanatic moment. And then we were starting to become jealous of those people in the V.I.P. area 'cause....well you know why. :(
Oh eto Sparks Fly from YouTube para naman ma-Taylor Swift mood ka muna dear reader. :))
We were there to enjoy the moment and not to remember all the songs she sang and have them listed in order so I'm gonna stop trying to be so defensive now.
At some point, Pat grew tired of taking videos so I heard her finally say 'bahala na nga i-enjoy na lang natin'. Haha but just a few minutes after, she was back to taking videos. Saya ng buhay eh anong magagawa natin :)
Taylor's dresses were all nice too, which should be, and she said Mahal Kow Kayow and Suh-LAH-mat and Sam Consepsiyown. She also got off stage and got closer to those in the V.I.P. section like all those musicians do when the concert is nearing its end. Huhu but we were too joyful at that moment to have even thought of that possibility...that it's all ending. Sad sad sad
She did mash-ups too! Uhm uhmm her very own Fearless and Jason Mraz's I'm Yours and then her own Enchanted and One Republic's Apologize. I think there was more, but I swear I can't remember haha sorry
You can only imagine the silliness and the ridiculousness of our singing along, ever loyally, to every single lyric of Taylor Swift's greatest hits. By now she's singing Long Live, her second to the last song of that concert, and she introduced, one by one, the members of her band --- a thing that I kinda ignored for I was still too fascinated by her. And then it struck me, 'cause that introduction of her band mates had just signaled her.........goodbye. :(
The last song was the ever-famous Love Story. I don't mean to sound like a total arrogant person but uhm, I think that if your age range is within mine (I'm 17), then you must be living under a rock if you do not know about Love Story. Youngsters and oldies alike know Love Story, its chorus at the very least.
Then she bid us goodbye and purposefully fell on her back somewhere behind the stage. Wow, talk about sudden goodbyes. Haha it took a while before it sunk in our minds that Taylor Swift's concert was officially done. During that moment, we could only say: BITIN. But now that everything's just a memory? We say a-huh, we saw her play live *with attitude :))*
There was a give-away of cute I.D. laces by Candie's. They were pretty, AND pricey. Over 300 pesos just for an i.d. lace. :)) Anyway, we were starving and so off we went for some resto-hunting. All was full. :( Oh men. We were lucky enough to have successfully entered Kangaroo Jack! There were singers in front and no offence meant, but I just wanted to have our food peacefully but they just WON'T stop. Haha dibale dibale. That was the time when I learned that Pat doesn't eat sweets. Eh kaya naman pala ang sexy sexy eh, I thought. She says she does eat sweets but not all that much. I have a sweet tooth so this is a pretty hard fact for me to accept from a very intimate friend. Hahaha
Soon, my dad was driving us home and everything that's happened was gone. But the memories remain babeh!!!
P.S. Stories:
- My close friend Ate Danika was also there but we didn't get to see each other. She was lucky enough to have a seat with her friends. Well she deserved it, 'cause she had her mom lined up in Araneta for as early as 10am! Hahaha 'yan ang commitment!!
- Pat KINDLY asked the lady behind to take a SINGLE snapshot of us but the lady's face was evidently annoyed. Like, what did we do? Haha the concert hasn't even started yet and it doesn't require maximum energy for you to click the camera button for ONCE. She was sorta pretty pa naman. Oh well we shall not judge, tho her act was just annoyingly remarkable ahhaha
- Giell, on short notice, withdrew her cancellation of this moment with Pat. But it was too late 'cause I already said I'd come in place of her. And I only learned of this when we were already at the concert itself! Seriously, I would've given it back to her had I known about it earlier. Oh well that's life lab yu giell
- I'd like to credit myself for practically ALL the pictures shown below, 'cause I took them. Pat took the ever-fail videos hahaha BTW our cameras were in extreme ultimate ultra mega ZOOM mode =))
By now, and as in now that I'm typing these things, I've grown weary of trying to recall the events of that particular magical night! But I know I'm gonna look back to this in the next years, and I'm gonna say, I'm glad God gave me the strength to write that and the courage and confidence to post these blog entries.
You might wanna check out Pat's own blog entry about this same night. :)
Here you go with the pictures! My dad's DSLR's battery charger was lost (perfect-timing) and so we had to settle with our kinda-outdated-years ago digicam-type! :)
Thousands of people seriously came. Gurangs and bagets alike, nandon.
Her stage set-up was amazing!!!!!
My and Pat's favorite at that time: Enchanted
The song's got cute beats and tunes for me: Speak Now
I think she was doing some mash-ups this time.
Introduction of her band: Long Live
I love you Manila! (joke di ko sure kung yan yung time na sinabi niya yun)
Bye bye!!!
The photo that the lady behind us took. :)) Edited by Patrishuh herself
And then I woke up to this! Whew:)
AND THE REST WAS HISTORY!!!! Hey you reader! hehe thanks for making it this far without skipping (I sure hope you read this entry to bits) thank you thank you!
Til we meet again, Taylor Swift! Ahaha :)
